We want to support you to come to university, regardless of any specific needs you may have. As a result, we have a number of accessible flats and houses that are available for you during your time at BU.

We have accessible rooms in the following accommodation:

We also work with AccessAble to provide detailed information about the specific access arrangements in all of our buildings and facilities. You can find full listings of what's available on the AccessAble website.

Assistance Dogs

Please read our guidance related to assistant dogs on the BU campus and in accommodation. If you require support, please complete the assistance dog support - application form

Please note, therapy and support animals are different to assistance dogs and will only be permitted in University premises on a case-by-case basis, with the prior written agreement of the University. Please contact us on [email protected] to discuss your request.

How to request accessible accommodation

We want to ensure that we find the right room for you. We will therefore work with you along your booking journey to ensure we get you to where you need to be.

If you disclose a condition that significantly impacts upon your living arrangements and would like to live in BU accommodation then you will need to be eligible under the standard BU accommodation guarantee, wherever possible we will then endeavour to place you in suitable accommodation. Once eligible, as part of your initial registration for accommodation you will need to let us know about your condition. You will then also need to register with the university’s ALS team and supply evidence of your condition and let us know how it impacts on your living arangements. An assessment of your needs can then be made to determine if suitable accommodation is required, available and/or reasonable adjustments can be made before your arrival.

If you fall outside of the standard BU accommodation guarantee but have a condition that may significantly impact upon your living arrangements, you should contact the Residential Services team to discuss your options.
