Corfe House is one of the smaller accommodation blocks, home to 308 students. It is located just a short distance from Poole Harbour - the flats on the upper floors have stunning views - and within walking distance of the centre of Poole, the train and coach station and a bus stop where you can jump on the U2 bus to reach both our campuses, or the M1 or M2 buses to travel to Bournemouth town centre and our Lansdowne Campus.
There are also night buses running between Bournemouth and Poole on Fridays and Saturdays, making it easy for you to get home after a night out.
There are undergraduate cluster flats, each with five or six bedrooms that share an open-plan kitchen and living area equipped with sofas, stools, tables, storage cupboards and all the appliances (cooker, fridge, freezer and microwave) you’ll need. Corfe House also offers postgraduate flats, which are similar in design and layout to their undergraduate counterparts, but with additional storage.
All of the bedrooms are ensuite and come with a four-foot bed as standard, as well as a desk, wardrobe, shelving, mirror and noticeboard.
The difference between a standard and premium ensuite room is typically in the specification - premium rooms may have better-quality or additional furniture, different decor or improved light fittings. They may also be larger than the other rooms in the building.
Corfe House has a large common room that is available for all residents to make use of. Within this space is a pool table and TV. It’s also where the reception is located and the staff here do their best to make it a welcoming and inclusive space to relax in. In addition, there’s a laundry room, with a card-operated system, just off the common room.
The reception is manned 24 hours a day, while there is also CCTV around the building, to ensure you feel safe and comfortable. Staff here regularly organise events, such as a welcome party at the start of term, pizza nights and coffee mornings - all part of creating a friendly and inclusive atmosphere.
Corfe House is managed by Unite in partnership with BU, so your contract will be with this provider rather than the university. Unite Students won Student Accommodation Operator of the Year 2016 at the RES Awards.
This provider has signed up to the National Codes of Standards, which provide housing suppliers (owners and managers) and their tenants with a framework of transparent undertakings about how they are going to do business with one another.
