Disclosure of medical conditions and disabilities

If you disclose a condition that significantly impacts upon your living arrangements and would like to live in BU accommodation then you will need to be eligible under the standard BU accommodation guarantee, wherever possible we will then endeavour to place you in suitable accommodation. Once eligible, as part of your initial registration for accommodation you will need to let us know about your condition. You will then also need to register with the university’s ALS team and supply evidence of your condition and let us know how it impacts on your living arangements. An assessment of your needs can then be made to determine if suitable accommodation is required, available and/or reasonable adjustments can be made before your arrival.

If you fall outside of the standard BU accommodation guarantee but have a condition that may significantly impact upon your living arrangements, you should contact the Residential Services team to discuss your options.

Students with families or dependents

The BU guarantee of accommodation is for the individual applicant or student only. Due to a shortage of suitable accommodation the guarantee does not cover anyone else. If you have a family or dependents, you should read through your options on our Accommodation for familes and couples webpage.
