Book a PC, technobooth or study room

Most of the PCs in the libraries are available on a first-come, first-served basis. However, if you want to guarantee the availability of a PC or technobooth at a certain time you can book up to seven days in advance using the MyPC booking system. This service is available both on and off campus.

In The Sir Michael Cobham Library, you can book:

  • PCs in the Study Skills and Languages Room (DL127) on the first floor
  • PCs on the third floor (quiet study) and the fourth floor (silent study)
  • Technobooths on the ground and first floors.

In Bournemouth House Library, you can book:

  • PCs in the silent study room (B138a)
  • Technobooths.

Please make sure you login within 15 minutes of the start of your booked session, otherwise you will lose the booking.

Technobooths

  • For group study, seating for up to six people
  • At Bournemouth House - there are four technobooths
  • At The Sir Michael Cobham Library there are:
    • Six technobooths on the ground floor
    • Four technobooths on the 1st floor in the social learning area
    • Three technobooths in the postgraduate study area (1st floor)
  • One booking or walk-up login per day
  • Maximum booking time per session is 120 minutes
  • Daily allowances are set so that you can also use bookable Study PCs on the same day, up to a maximum of four sessions per day, up to a maximum of ten sessions per week
  • You can book seven days in advance.

Study PCs

  • Bookable library PCs for individual academic and research use
  • You can have up to four bookings or walk-up logins per day, up to a maximum of ten sessions per week
  • Maximum booking time per session is 180 minutes
  • You can extend the session by another 60 minutes if the PC hasn't been booked by someone else
  • You can book seven days in advance
  • Study PCs are located in the:
    • Quiet or silent study zones (3rd and 4th floors), The Sir Michael Cobham Library
    • Study Skills and Languages Room DL127 (1st floor) The Sir Michael Cobham Library
    • Silent study room B138a, Bournemouth House Library.

Study rooms

DL117 and DL202 in The Sir Michael Cobham Library can be booked by students for group work.

  • Rooms seat up to six people and have a single PC, projector and screen
  • You can book one library study room per day for up to 120 minutes
  • A study room booking counts as one of your permitted four bookings per day /ten bookings per week
  • You can book seven days in advance.

When you arrive, login to the computer immediately to validate your booking. If you don't do this, your booking will elapse after one hour.
