What's included in my rent?
There is a lot to think about when you move somewhere new, especially if it will be your first time living away from home. We want to make life as easy as possible for you, so we include several features in your rent, whether you are in halls of residence or Unilet, giving you one easy-to-manage payment.
Included in your rent:
- All utilities (gas, electric, water and sewerage)
- Internet / Wi-Fi
- 12-month BU bus pass (worth £250), giving you unlimited travel on BU buses (U1, U2, U3 and U4) and More buses (M1, M2 and M15). If you don't need the bus pass, you can opt out of it when you apply for your accommodation, or cancel it within the first term.
- Res Life (an onsite team providing a safety net for welfare/wellbeing issues as well as a varied and inclusive calendar of social events/activities to help you settle in and build a strong community throughout your stay)
- Personal possessions insurance through Endsleigh, so visit the site to check:

✔ Key exclusions and limitations
✔ Your policy excess
✔ How to make a claim, extend and personalise your cover.
It is important to find out exactly what you are covered for as you may find that the contents cover is not sufficient and you need to extend it to protect all of your possessions both inside and outside of your room.
Deposits and booking fee
You will need to pay a deposit and a (non-refundable) booking fee to secure your room booking.
If you are moving into BU-managed accommodation (Student Village and Unilet), Dorchester House (managed by iQ Students) or Home Park (managed by Fresh Student Living), you will be able to make your deposit and booking fee payment through our online accommodation system during stage two of the booking process.
If you are moving into halls run by one of our private partners (CLV, Unite or Kaplan Residences) they will provide you with details of how to pay your deposit before you arrive. For certain accommodation (CLV or Kaplan Residences) you will also be asked to pay rent in advance.
Your rent for the year is then paid in three instalments and should be paid to your accommodation provider.

- 12 September 2018
For BU-managed accommodation (Student Village and Unilet), Dorchester House (managed by iQ Students) or Home Park (managed by Fresh Student Living), you will be able to pay your rent online through our secure portal or over the phone on +44 (0)1202 961671 during office hours, which are 9.00am - 5.00pm Monday to Thursday and 9.00am to 4.30pm on Friday.
For halls run by one of our private partners (CLV, Unite or Kaplan Residences) they will provide you with details of how to pay your rent before you arrive.
