Unilet properties are typically four to six bedroom houses that are fully furnished and you can rent a room in the same way you would in a purpose-built hall of residence. Although they are privately owned, they are all managed by BU, allowing us to ensure consistent standards.
All of our Unilet properties are within four miles of Talbot Campus and are located in popular student areas, such as Charminster, Winton and Wallisdown. These locations are well-served by our university bus service and there are many cycle routes between our campuses and the centre of Bournemouth.

Facilities and services
The number and size of the bedrooms varies from property to property, but we will always make sure that you have the facilities you need in your home. Unilet properties allow you to have an independent life and provide a very homely environment. They all have a shared kitchen and living area where you can mingle with your housemates.
Each of the bedrooms has either a double or single bed, a wardrobe, chest of drawers, desk and chair. All of the living rooms have sofas and the kitchens are all equipped with the essential appliances, including a cooker, fridge, freezer, microwave and washing machine. You’ll usually have shared bathroom facilities in these houses.
We want to make sure that you feel comfortable and settle into your new home, so our Residential Services team are available to answer any questions you may have or to provide assistance should you need it. We also regularly inspect all of our Unilet properties to ensure they meet our standards.
As these properties are located in residential areas, there is often on-road parking, allowing you to bring a car if you’d like to.
These properties are managed and operated by BU, so your contract will be with the university.
£1 p/wk of your weekly rent contributes towards the running of your Res Life programme. Res Life is designed to help your time in your student accommodation be the best it can be. The BU Res Life team live in a Unilet house and are there to help you settle into your new home, be available if you ever need a bit of support or someone to talk to and also help you and your fellow residents foster a sense of community throughout the year. They will not only be organising and running events for you but will also be looking for any ideas you might have to make your Res Life even better. Remember, £1 of your rent contributes to the funding of Res Life so we encourage you to get involved and get the most out of it! More details of what Res Life is all about and how you can get involved can be found at our Res Life info page.
