Local families offer homestay opportunities to our students, allowing you to live in a family home rather than halls of residence or privately rented accommodation.
The homestay list is held by the Residential Services team; these rooms and families are not checked and you have to contact the available homestays directly. The cost of each homestay will vary, but most are inclusive of bills and internet.
You may also have meals provided for you as part of your homestay, while others are self-catered. If you have a preference, we can help you arrange this.
While living with a family may not be the typical university experience, it does have its advantages, particularly if you are nervous about living away from home for the first time and would like to be in a secure family environment.
Your host family will also have a wealth of local knowledge they can share with you, helping you discover the best that Bournemouth and Dorset has to offer, as well as ensuring you settle in quickly.
You can also search for a homestay yourself via the Homestay.com website. This is independently run and not linked to BU, but may be a good place for you to find a suitable host family to stay with in Bournemouth.
