Any UK, ROI or CI applicant for MSc Human Centred Artificial Intelligence, MSc Human Centred Artificial Intelligence for Games Development and MSc Artificial Intelligence for Media starting in September 2024 or January 2025.

Scholarships cannot be deferred.

Eligibility

Applicants must:

  • Meet the eligibility criteria for the Postgraduate Student Loan. Check your eligibility
  • Fall within one or more of the underrepresented groups listed below 
  • Hold an offer for MSc Human Centred Artificial Intelligence for September 2024 or January 2025 entry
  • Hold an offer for MSc Human Centred Artificial Intelligence for Games Development for September 2024 or January 2025 entry
  • Hold an offer for MSc Artificial Intelligence for Media for September 2024 entry.
Additional criteria
  • Preference is given to applicants who do not hold a STEM degree or equivalent STEM-based work experience.

The scholarship is a £10,000 award for MSc Human Centred Artificial IntelligenceMSc Human Centred Artificial Intelligence for Games Development and MSc Artificial Intelligence for Media applicants.

This scholarship aims to address skills gaps and increase diversity in the UK Artificial Intelligence and data science workforce; designed to assist applicants from under-represented groups and are available for full-time and part-time study.

Priority for the scholarship will be given to applicants from the following groups:

  • black students
  • female students
  • registered disabled students
  • students from a low socioeconomic background (Index of Multiple Disadvantage quintiles 1 and 2, low household income). You can check to see if you live in an area with a low participation rate by searching for your postcode on the Office For Students website.

We will also consider applications from the following groups:

  • care experienced students 
  • estranged students 
  • Gypsy, Roma and Traveller students 
  • refugees 
  • children from military families, veterans and partners of UK military personnel. 

Additional information

Core-STEM subjects include science, technology and maths subjects such as physics, engineering, mathematics, statistics and IT, and are not eligible for this scholarship. Far-STEM subjects include, for example, biology, geology, psychology and medicine, which are eligible. Non-STEM subjects include, for example, economics, business and arts, which are also eligible.

An estranged person is someone who no longer has the support of their parents, and often also other family members, due to a permanent breakdown in their relationship which has led to ceased contact. This might mean your biological, step or adoptive parents or wider family members who have been responsible for supporting you in the past. We may request further information to confirm.

Scholarships are reviewed on a regular basis and the university reserves the right to withdraw, amend or introduce new scholarships at any time. Scholarships are offered subject to funding and availability. The scholarship is awarded in your first year only, unless stated otherwise.
