A friendly welcome awaits you, whether you're flying into Heathrow airport or coming straight to Bournemouth. Once you're in your halls, or Unilet our brilliant Res Life team, accommodation staff and SUBU’s smiley Welcome Crew, are there to help you feel at home. They can also point you in the direction of where to collect your keys, your room, the local supermarket, what’s on and where - and anything else you might need!
Things to do
There's always plenty to do here, from events in your halls, sports tasters, volunteering activities and quizzes to social, club and comedy nights, as well as our Sports & Societies Week and Refreshers Fair in early February. There are also lots of fun events and wonderful places to visit locally.
Just remember, you're going to be here for a while, so don’t feel you need to try and do everything in your first few weeks! It’s important that you fit your social activities around your academic commitments from Week One and beyond and start life at BU as you mean to go on – living a happy, healthy and balanced lifestyle.
Trips & Tours
You can also book on to organised trips around the local area, visiting places like the Jurassic Coast and Stonehenge, as well as towns and cities such as London, Oxford, Bath and Brighton. These trips are good value for money and a great way to explore and meet new people. You can buy tickets from SUBU reception or online.
On Wednesday 24 January we have an Orientation Day to help our new international settle into UK life. We also hold a Welcome Reception on Wednesday 24 January, to officially welcome international students to BU. The event is free but you will need to register for a ticket beforehand. Please be aware, event registration opens on Monday 11 December.
