Dhaval Malavia, BA (Hons) Computer Animation Arts and MA Producing Film & Television
Dhaval graduated from Bournemouth University in 2013 and worked at Trace VFX before returning to BU to study a Master’s.
Films and computer animation have enthralled me for as long as I can remember.
Their capacity to create stories and characters with entire living worlds for them, without any limitation on the imagination, is what I’ve constantly aspired to study. What better place to do that than at the number one university in the UK for media studies and computer animation?
When it came to choosing a university for my Master’s, coming back to BU was a no-brainer. So, two years after finishing my degree, I found myself back at my second home.
Since starting at Trace VFX, my career has gone on an upward trajectory. I was able to impress and gain recognition among my colleagues, as well as senior management. But after gaining industry experience, I decided it was time to move on to postgraduate studies.
During my undergraduate degree the university provided me with the best platform to learn and hone my skills, from the essence of animation to the practical knowledge of visual storytelling.
I’ve found great potential for growth through the support and teaching offered by lecturers with vast experience in their specialisations. BU combines all this with the latest industry-standard facilities – I couldn’t have imagined learning from better masters of the art.
And there are excellent networking opportunities with top industry professionals through placements, masterclasses and weekly visiting speakers.
