St John’s Road is a small accommodation block with just 28 postgraduate residents. The building itself is called Atlantic House and is located on St John’s Road in Boscombe, within easy reach of numerous shops, cafes, bars and restaurants. There is also a Sainsbury’s and Lidl within walking distance.
This accommodation is for postgraduate students who are on January start courses with us, and is also available on short-term lets with a supplement on the rent.
The university bus service (U3) to Talbot Campus picks up and drops off at Boscombe’s main bus station, just a short walk away, while it’s less than a half hour walk to our Lansdowne Campus and buses run regularly along Christchurch Road to the campus and centre of Bournemouth.
There are 12 self-contained studio apartments and 16 study bedrooms, each with their own ensuite bathroom, at St John’s Road. All the studio apartments have their own kitchen areas, while there is a shared kitchen on each of the three floors for all the other residents to make use of.
All of the rooms are fully furnished and each communal kitchen is equipped with all the appliances (cooker, fridge, freezer, microwave) you’ll need. The kitchenettes in the studio flats have a hob, oven and fridge.
There is also a common room and communal garden that you can use to socialise or study in, as well as a shared laundry room. This isn’t a manned building, but CCTV monitors the accommodation to help you feel secure.
You can also choose to have a university bus pass included in your rent, allowing you to travel on seven routes around Bournemouth and Poole that are operated by More Buses. However, if you decide you do not want a bus pass, there will be a reduction in the rent listed to reflect this.
The property at St John's Road is managed by BU, which means your contract will be with the university.
