Opened in September 2015 and located in the heart of our Lansdowne Campus this is our only catered hall of residence. It's within easy walking distance of Bournemouth town centre and the main train station, and is packed with excellent facilities for relaxing, studying and enjoying life in Bournemouth.
As our only catered option, the student refectory on the ground floor of the building will serve up a variety of tasty, fresh and healthy food for you to enjoy - included in the rent, you’ll have a daily allowance to spend on a variety of hot and cold food for breakfast, lunch and dinner – or brunch over the weekends; here’s an idea of what you could choose from this sample menu (pdf 66.55kb). In addition to having delicious meals prepared for you every day, you'll have all the other advantages of a catered option, namely no washing up and no worries about buying and budgeting for food. However, if you do fancy cooking every now and again, there are still kitchens in each flat where you can prepare your own snacks or meals.
The flats are four, five or six-bed cluster flats, each with a communal kitchen and living area that’s equipped with comfy seating, plenty of storage space and all the appliances (fridge, freezer, cooker and microwave) you’ll need. However, as all of the rooms here are booked on a catered basis, with your meals being provided by the refectory, you'll only need to use the kitchen when you feel like it. There are also a small number of self-contained studio flats with their own kitchenette and living area.
All of the rooms are fitted with a four-foot bed, which has plenty of storage space underneath it, a wardrobe, desk, shelving and mirror, and are all ensuite.
There are two common rooms within the Bournemouth University International College building - one on the first floor with various games facilities, including a ping pong table, table football table and several games consoles and big screens; and the other on the 12th floor where you will find comfy seating areas and even a secure outdoor roof terrace. There’s also a coin-operated laundry room that is accessible 24 hours a day.
The reception in the building is located by the entrance/exit and is manned 24 hours a day. The staff operate a concierge service and are always happy to have a chat at any time of the day or night. The small and friendly team do their best to create a community atmosphere and love getting to know all of our students. For your security, CCTV is positioned throughout the building and there is secure entry via turnstiles to the flats.
Various events are organised throughout the year, from pizza and movie nights to gaming tournaments, and there is always a big welcome party to introduce you to other students when you first arrive.
This building is managed by Bournemouth University International College in partnership with BU and your contract will be with this organisation rather than the university. If you book a room here, your £250 deposit will be deducted from your first rent payment.
