Online accommodation system help

The following information is designed to help you complete your application for accommodation with BU. If you’re still unsure about any stage of the process after reading this guide, please get in touch.

What characters need to be included in a password?

Your password must be ten characters long and include at least one character from three of the following four categories:

English uppercase alphabet letters (A-Z)

English lowercase alphabet letters (a-z)

Base 10 digits (0-9)

Non-alphanumeric characters (¬`!\"£$%^&*()-_=+{}[]:;@’~#<,>.?/|\;})

What do you do if you’ve requested your password but haven’t received it?

Make sure that it hasn’t gone in to your junk folder by mistake. To avoid this happening, add the domain ‘bournemouth.ac.uk’ to your safe senders list to ensure you receive all the emails we send you.

How can you update incorrect personal details?

If you're an undergraduate applicant, you need to update your personal details on UCAS Track or contact UCAS. Please note that it usually takes 24 hours for any changes made on UCAS to display on our online accommodation system.

Postgraduate applicants can do this through myHub.

What should be included in the personal profile?

There are no hard and fast rules about what to include in your personal profile, but when you’re writing it think about the sorts of things you’d like to know about your future housemates. It’s a simple way to tell other students a bit about yourself and to help you find housemates who you’ll get on with.

Are the personal profile and lifestyle questions mandatory?

You don’t need to fill in the personal profile or answer the lifestyle questions. You can leave the personal profile box blank and don’t move the bar to answer the lifestyle questions. The only thing you need to have to work through the accommodation application process is a screen name.

Who can see the information about any medical conditions?

This information is not made public and is only used by our Residential Services team to help us offer you accommodation that is suitable for your needs.

Why do you need to know about unspent criminal convictions?

We are required to ask this question to ensure we keep all of our students safe. You can find more information about what we need to know, and our policy relating to criminal convictions.

When do you get access to Stage 2 of the accommodation application process?

Throughout June, July and August, we have four accommodation release periods for Stage 2 undergraduate applicants and three for postgraduate applicants. When you have met all the conditions of your offer (Unconditional Firm U/F status), and Stage 2 is open, we will invite you to book your accommodation. You will have an equal chance of getting your first choice of accommodation, regardless of which of these release dates you are allocated.

A percentage of each accommodation is available to book in each of these releases on a first come, first served basis. You will have an equal chance of booking accommodation whether you book in the June, July or August release period.

What do you do if there are no rooms showing in your preferred accommodation?

Firstly, go back and change your room preferences, as there may still be rooms left in your preferred accommodation. If there are still no rooms displaying, you will need to choose an alternative.

What do you do if you forget your password?

To reset your password, enter your Student Number and click ‘Forgot Password’. You will then receive an email with an automated password and a link to create your own password. For security reasons, this link will expire after ten minutes. Don’t worry if you miss this window - you can just click ‘Fortgot Password’ again.

When you click the link to create your own password, you will need to enter the automated password first (in the box marked current password), followed by the new password that you choose. Click ‘save password’.

On the next page, follow the link ‘click here to log in’. You’ll then need to re-enter your student number and enter your new password to log into the online accommodation system.
