Your next steps
Stage 1 - registering your interest in accommodation
Undergraduate and postgraduate applicants need to use our online accommodation system to register their interest in booking BU accommodation.
There are two main stages to the booking process. Stage 1 sees you register your interest in accommodation and tell us a bit more about yourself. Stage 2 allows you to choose your accommodation and make a payment to secure your room - you will only be able to do this once you have met all the conditions of your offer.
You will receive an email from us with the information you need to register on our accommodation portal for Stage 1.
Stage 2 - booking your accommodation
Once you have met your course requirements and show as UF (Unconditional Firm) you will be eligible for Stage 2. We will send you another email letting you know when you can log back into the system and book a room from the available options.
If you are a proven care leaver or have a Compact agreement, you are automatically guaranteed BU accommodation regardless of when you require it.
Disclosure of medical conditions and disabilities
Students who disclose a medical condition are covered under the standard BU Guarantee policy. If you have a medical condition or disability that may significantly impact upon your living arrangements, wherever possible, the university will endeavour to accommodate you. However, there is no guarantee that a suitable room will be available and, if booking outside of the BU guarantee, you are not automatically guaranteed a room in BU accommodation. Students in this category need to register with the university's ALS team and undergo an assessment of needs so we can determine whether suitable accommodation is available or reasonable adjustments can be made before arrival.
Students with families or dependents
The BU guarantee of accommodation is for the individual applicant or student only. Due to a shortage of suitable accommodation, the guarantee does not cover anyone else. If you have a family or dependents, you should read through your options on our Accommodation for families and couples webpage.
