With the jobs market more competitive than ever, it’s important for every young person to find a way to get ahead. Going to university and studying for a degree could do just that, with the latest figures from the Higher Education Statistics Agency revealing that 90% of graduates in the UK were in some kind of full-time work or study within six months of graduating, with BU graduates at 93.3%.
Having a degree can also mean that you are paid more over the duration of your working life than those who haven’t been to university. Figures recently published by the Department for Business Innovation & Skills show that the average salary for a working-age graduate is £31,000 per year, compared to £22,000 for non-graduates.
However, we know that it’s not just about the degree you graduate with, but the experience you gain as well. This is why we offer every one of our undergraduate students the opportunity to undertake a work placement as part of their degree.
As a result, 90% of our graduates have relevant work experience when they leave us, helping them stand out from other graduates to prospective employers. You can take a look at what some of our graduates have achieved in the news section.
We have a Careers & Employability Service to help our graduates hunt for jobs and to provide them with any additional support they may need to get their career started.
