Scholarships and bursaries that don't have to be repaid
To help you fund your future, we offer scholarships recognising academic, sporting and musical excellence. We’re excited to have an unlimited number of Academic Excellence Scholarships, worth £1,500 for UK/EU students and £2,500 for international students. You don’t even need to apply and will automatically receive this scholarship if you achieve:
- AAA or above at A-level or equivalent
- DDD or above at BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma or equivalent
- Outstanding academic results for international students.
Among our other scholarships on offer, outstanding musicians and sportspeople can receive scholarships worth £300 - £5,000.
We also offer bursaries of up to £6,000 in the first year to support students who have been in care or are from lower income households.
The news gets even better - you don’t need to repay scholarships or bursaries. Could you be one of the talented students who receives funding support?
Continual investment in your learning experience
Now is a great time to be a BU student, as we’re investing £200 million in our buildings and IT facilities by 2019 – you’ll be able to witness the campus growing right in front of you! But our great, creative community is about more than just buildings, which is why we celebrate the incredible achievements of our students. You can find out what we’re BU Proud of, or read some of our student stories and take a glimpse into what your future could be like.
A fulfilling university life
University life isn’t just about studying, so how will you spend your free time in Bournemouth? We’re lucky to have a beautiful beach right on our doorstep, so you can spend your weekends learning to surf, soaking up the sun or working your way through the ice cream van menu.
If you don’t like the sand between your toes, we’ve got a cosmopolitan town full of high street shops, boutiques and department stores alongside restaurants, pubs and cafes. Read Beth’s blog to find out more about our location.
If you’re into music, you’ll find plenty to keep you entertained at the BIC and O2 Academy. In your first semester alone you’ll be able to see artists including Ella Henderson, Jason Derulo, and Jess Glyne. That’s not to mention all the musicals, theatre and events at the Pavilion and Lighthouse.
And the question on a lot of students’ minds – what about the nightlife? Alice has first-hand experience, so read her blog to find out more.
We could tell you more about what’s great about BU but our students say it so much better:
