Entry requirements for postgraduate research degrees

For entry onto a postgraduate research degree, you will usually be required to have a Master’s degree. However, if you can demonstrate, through publications or academic references, that you are capable of working towards a research degree, you may be considered without a Master’s qualification.

European Credit Transfer System (ECTS)

If you are studying for an undergraduate or postgraduate course in another EU country, your qualification will probably be graded using the ECTS, which is a way of transferring European higher education grades over to the UK. We accept ECTS credits for entry onto our courses. One ECTS credit is equivalent to two BU academic credits.

IT competence

All degree courses require at least a basic level of IT competence, so you are advised to make sure you are comfortable using computers and the most common programmes, such as MS Office, before beginning your course. This will help you make the most of your opportunities once you arrive at BU.
