Moving to a new country is exciting and challenging. We understand that the immigration process is complicated, and we hope the following information will help to make it clear for you.

Immigration advice

According to the Office of the Immigration Services Commissioner (OISC), only designated and trained members of staff may give immigration advice.

At BU, our International Student Support Team at AskBU are fully trained immigration advisers. If you have any questions about your visa application, you will be directed to a member of this team.

Other members of BU staff are able to provide you with information about the visa extension process. You will also find useful information on our website.

Please note that the people who deal with immigration enquiries at the Home Office are not trained immigration advisers.

TB screening

You may need to be screened for Tuberculosis (TB) before you can apply for your Tier 4 Student visa to come to the UK under the Home Office regulations.

Please note that whether you need screening is based on where you are applying from, not your nationality.

The full list of countries where this applies can be found on the Home Office website. If you are unsure whether this applies to you, please contact askBU.
