Learning for this course is predominantly on-line, however the hours below give an indication of how you can expect to spend your time during the course (outside of independent learning time). You will also learn through a combination of lectures, seminars, tutorials, workshops and practical sessions. Your independent learning could include reading books and journal articles, working on group projects, preparing presentations, conducting library research and writing your assignments.
- Learning and teaching: 42 hours per year (84 hours per level) face-to-face sessions on campus
- Non-credit bearing learning and teaching: 5 hours (2.5 hours per year) for induction

Full entry requirements
All applicants: Applicants for this programme must be employed in a relevant role in the Engineering industry. All applicants who are accepted on the Integrated Masters programme will be required to complete the BEng (Hons) Engineering part of the programme with an upper second or first class profile in order to continue to the final level of the programme.
Entry to Level 6: Students who have successfully completed the FdEng, FdSc Engineering (Mechanical Design, Manufacturing Management or Electronic Design) programmes at Bournemouth & Poole College with a minimum classification of Merit will be eligible to apply for entry with advanced standing to the Level 6 of the MEng (Hons) Engineering programme at Bournemouth University and credited with 120 credits at Level 4 and 120 credits at Level 5.
Additionally, other applicants to Level 6 require either:
- A FdEng, FdSc or HND with Merit in an engineering discipline accredited to EngTech or partial IEng
International entry requirements
If English is not your first language, you will need to provide evidence that you can understand English to a satisfactory level. English language requirements for this course are normally:
- IELTS (Academic) 6.0 with minimum 5.5 in each component or equivalent.

When you graduate, you'll be equipped to take on a range of engineering roles across the manufacturing and engineering sectors and our graduate employment record in this field is excellent, with 95% of our full-time Mechanical Engineering students in work or further study within six months of finishing their course.

The MEng (Hons) Engineering will meet, in part, the exemplifying academic benchmark requirements for registration as a Chartered Engineer (for students progressing from the FdEng Engineering (Mechanical Design) only) and students will need to complete an approved format of further learning pursuant to the requirements of UK-SPEC.
