This course has been designed to produce visionary Marketing Communications professionals with key knowledges and skills in digital marketing communication concepts and practices.
Digital media professionals work in a wide variety of organisations with job titles such as digital marketing manager or social media marketing manager. In these roles, you will require an understanding of digital media theory and practice for internal and external communications with relevant consumers and stakeholders. You will develop knowledge of the historical roots of marketing communications, advertising, and public relations and a particular focus on contemporary and cutting-edge digital media practices and communications such as Facebook, Twitter, blogs and mobile apps, as well as the context in which it takes place. In order to enhance your future career prospects, you should demonstrate the ability to be critical of existing practice and innovative, strategic, and creative in your own approach.
In year three you’ll have the opportunity to put theory into practice as you complete a work placement anywhere in the world, giving you the chance to make great career contacts and bolster your blossoming resume. In year four you’ll complete a dissertation, and craft your own curriculum as you select units to suit your interests and, ultimately, your career aspirations.
Awarded Graduate Gateway status by the Chartered Institute of Marketing the leading international body for marketing and business development, this course also presents the opportunity to gain a professional qualification through the CIM Graduate Gateway scheme during the first year of your studies, namely the CIM Foundation Certificate in Marketing. During your second year, you will be encouraged to achieve the Institute of Direct and Digital Marketing (IDM) Professional Diploma in Digital marketing. These are two industry recognised qualifications that will enhance your employability for both placement and graduate roles.
As a graduate of this course you will be equipped to enter a range of potential careers where it is vital to have knowledge and expertise in digital media marketing communications as a core strategic activity, as well as its practices. This course will suit students who want to gain more specialist digital practice skills and update their knowledge on digital marketing communications.
