While there is always something to do in Bournemouth during the day, this certainly doesn't stop when the sun goes down. With something going on every night of the week in bars, clubs and pubs across the town, it is no wonder that Bournemouth is well known for its lively nightlife.
The University's Student Union, The Old Fire Station is not just a popular venue for fresher's, they also host various nights with different types of music such as Hip-Hop, Indie, Disco, House, Electro, Chart and Dubstep. The Union also have a range of live bands and comedy nights during term time.
Other popular nightclubs in Bournemouth include Cameo, which is well-known for it's range of music rooms, from Disco to House and R&B. Next door to Cameo, is Vinyl playing the old classics such as Busted and S-Club 7. Halo is a converted Church into a nightclub and hosts various ticketed House music nights at the weekend as well as cheaper student nights during the week.
Bars and pubs
Bournemouth and Poole also have a vast amount of bars and pubs. These venues are handy if you fancy a bite to eat, a chilled drink and some even have a busier atmosphere with rooms for dancing in the evening. Yates, Sixty Million Postcards, The Winchester, Inferno's, and O'Neill's are a few of the popular bars and pubs.
At Talbot Campus, there is Dylan's Kitchen and Bar which is open for food during the day and stays open late at night. The venue hosts regularly live music and quiz nights.
Despite being a little further away from the town centre, Ashley Cross in Parkstone, Poole also hosts a good nightlife vibe at the weekend. It is home to a range of pubs and cocktails bars including Mai Tai, The Dancing Moose and The Cow. These venues are great for a change of scenery away from Bournemouth but they are a little pricier than the typical student club night during the week.
Just a ten minute taxi ride away from the town centre, is the O2 Academy Bournemouth. As well as live concerts and performances, this venue also hosts popular House and Drum and Bass music nights. The Bournemouth International Centre also holds live concerts, with performances from names such as Little Mix to Muse and S-Club 7, and a wide variety of famous comedians such as Sean Lock, Mickey Flanagan and Dara O'Briain.
The World's Largest Sport & Music Festival, Bournemouth 7's takes place around May time. The event sells out every year and has a range of music tents, sporting fixtures and food and drink to enjoy over the summer bank holiday weekend.
Bournemouth University's summer ball in June is the annual student party. With every single person in fancy dress and chart-topping acts such as Rudimental and Sigma playing, it is no wonder that this event sells out within a few weeks every year!
