Vacation access to other libraries

The Vacation Access scheme run by SCONUL enables undergraduate and postgraduate students to use other university libraries for reference use, during the vacation period of the university you are visiting (which may differ from that of your own institution).

The agreement covers most university and higher education college libraries in the UK and Ireland.

It does not normally offer borrowing privileges, though some libraries may offer this as an additional arrangement (as we do at BU).

When visiting another library, you should be prepared to show a form of ID, usually your current University ID card, as well as proof of address.

Access to other libraries will normally exclude use of computer-based information sources.

For non-BU students wishing to join BU Library as a Vacation Member, please refer to the external membership information on our Guest and visitors information pages.
