The National Student Survey 2024 is now open.

The NSS is a nationally recognised annual survey for final year undergraduate students at all UK universities. The survey is administered by Ipsos Mori, an independent research agency on behalf of the UK Higher Education Funding and Regulatory Bodies, so responses remain anonymous to BU at all times.

Why should I take part?

Taking part in the NSS is a great opportunity to reflect on your whole BU experience and how much the experiences you have had have helped you to learn and develop.

We use the data to continually improve our courses or services and to make sure we keep doing the things which are working well. The NSS results are also made publicly available to help prospective students, their families and advisors make informed decisions about where and what to study.

Your answers will remain confidential and they cannot be identified to you. All BU will ever know is how many students responded to the survey, along with a breakdown of your collective responses. You'll need to enter your BU student ID to start the survey so that Ipsos Mori know you're eligible.

As the deadline date for the NSS approaches, it's likely that Ipsos Mori will send you a reminder email, text or even call you if you haven't yet taken part in the survey.

Prize draw

The survey takes about 10 minutes to fill out and you’ll have the opportunity to enter a free prize draw* for the chance to win:

  • 5 x full graduation packages
  • 7 x photography and gown packages
  • 7 x £25 voucher, choice of either Amazon or Love2Shop

*The full prize draw terms and conditions are available.

How can I take part?

If you are eligible for the survey, Ipsos Mori will contact you by email from 7 February 2024 to invite you to take part in the survey online. However, you can fill out the NSS online or via a mobile device at www.thestudentsurvey.com at any time until 30 April 2024.

Further information about the survey is available on the NSS website: www.thestudentsurvey.com. If you have any questions, our FAQs below should help - alternatively, you can contact [email protected] and we'll reply as soon as we can.

Please note that not all students are eligible; if you started your degree at another university and transferred to BU for your final year, have repeated your final year, or you are on a top-up degree and completed the NSS as part of your foundation course, you’re unlikely to be asked to take part in the NSS this year.
