Hospitals

Royal Bournemouth Hospital and Christchurch Hospital

The Royal Bournemouth Hospital and Christchurch Hospital provide health care for the residents of Bournemouth, Christchurch, East Dorset and part of the New Forest.

Poole Hospital

Poole Hospital mainly serves the areas of Poole, East Dorset and Purbeck. It is the major trauma centre for East Dorset and provides a broad range of district hospital care and a number of core services - ear, nose & throat, child health and maternity - for a wider catchment area, including Bournemouth and Christchurch. The hospital also provides specialist services, such as oral surgery and neurological care, for the whole of Dorset and is the Cancer Centre for Dorset.

The NHS

NHS Symptom Checker provides health advice and information, the NHS also offers specific advice on dealing with chickenpox and meningitis.

Immunisations

If you have not already received vaccinations for Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR - normally two vaccinations) and Meningitis C, we strongly advise you to have them before you arrive at the university.

Dentists

There is a charge for all dental treatment, even under the NHS, but you may be entitled to some assistance with payment. For details of dentists, visit the NHS website.

The Reading Agency has some useful information about understanding and managing your health and wellbeing, along with lots of helpful reading; including books about prescriptions for common mental health conditions and dementia.
