Working as a Student Ambassador allows you to work varied hours and roles, whilst representing Bournemouth University.

A key part of your role is supporting our Open Days, as a Student Ambassador you are required to work a minimum of two open days per academic year. This can be at our Physical Open Days, where you will be on campus or our Virtual Open Days, where you support online via Unibuddy.

There are no fixed hours of work per week, which means you can work as an ambassador alongside other commitments like university studies or other part-time work.

Being employed as a Student Ambassador means you:

  • Can work when it's convenient for you
  • Will have the opportunity to encourage and support current and future students, and visitors
  • Share your personal experiences with current and future students
  • Broaden your CV and are enrolled on to the employability programme
  • Are rewarded with excellent rates of pay
  • Can work up to 15 hours per week during term times, and up to 37 hours per week outside of term time.

The Student Ambassador role includes working on:

Open Days – giving campus tours, representing your course, department or faculty, giving information and support to our visitors, helping set up for these large events.

Campus Tours – supporting a variety of events for a range of audiences; students, visitors, VIPs and more.

Representing BU – attending events on behalf of BU, including UCAS conventions, school & college HE fairs.

Sharing your experience – in-person, through presentations, talks and Q&A sessions and online through blogs, vlogs, and other digital platforms.

Events and Marketing – support a range of other BU events and marketing activities.

Specialisms 

Once you become a Student Ambassador you will have the opportunity to become specialised in key areas of the Marketing and Communications department, these include:

The School Liaisons Team – work on roles key to inspiring young people, delivering workshops and supervising students on our summer residential events. This work may require additional training and a DBS check (arranged and paid for by BU).

Digital Marketing Ambassador – share what it's like to be a BU student through social media content, vlogs, and blogs. In this role, you'll get to be creative and produce content that inspires prospective students.

Unibuddy Ambassador - become a Unibuddy ambassador and offer first-hand advice and guidance to prospective students considering joining BU.
