Armed with the latest state-of-the-art technology and equipment, this year our team unearthed an array of structures, burials and artefacts from prehistoric and Roman Britain.
The biggest story to hit the headlines was was the discovery of a Roman villa and adjacent cemetery. Roman villas have been found and excavated all over Britain, but never before with burials of the likely occupants.
This particular find will provide many new insights into Roman diet, health, wealth, lifestyle and nature of social interaction, but more importantly, will hopefully address one of the most significant unanswered questions of Romano-British studies, were villa owners native British or were they from another part of the Roman Empire?
