Graham joined Bournemouth University in 2013. As Finance Director, he is responsible for the financial strategy, direction, performance and the effective utilisation of financial resources of the University. He is delighted to have devised the financial strategy which was essential for the University to grow its annual income from £128M in 2013-14 to £159M in 2017-18, and enable the generation of the funds to support the University’s ambitious capital investment plans.
Graham qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Ernst & Young, and following a number of years auditing and advising businesses, he moved into the manufacturing sector where he built a successful career as a finance director. He worked for both multi-national UK PLCs and US corporations all of whom operated from multiple locations in the UK, Europe and North America. Graham has extensive experience of acquiring, disposing and restructuring companies including dealing with investment bankers and investors.
In 2004, he transferred into the education sector where he gained ten years’ experience directing the financial strategy of a number of further and higher education institutions. Since September 2014, Graham has been a member of the Board at Brockenhurst College and in September 2017, he was appointed Chair of the Corporation.
Graham is a graduate of Manchester University; a Fellow Chartered Accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, and gained a PGCE from Huddersfield University.
